Where in the world is Red, Red, Rine? Part I
I know, I know! It's like deja vu from August when I was writing another catch-up email apologizing for being MIA for so long. Don't feel bad though. People who I used to see every day here I don't get to see anymore either. It's a little something I like to call Comps semester. For those of you not familiar with the slings and arrows of comprehesive exams, you can read the general Wikipedia description here or, for a more detailed and close-to-home look, you can read about Lisaopolis's adventures in the process as well. Actually, the my initial comps meeting isn't until this Wednesday, but with all the prepping hoopla and teaching 2 classes this semester, it feels like it's already started.
Anyhow, September flew by and I thought I'd give you a montage, if you will, of what I've been up to. First and foremost, September marks the beginning of football season. As such, it is my favorite time of the year and I have jumped into hte fray this year wholeheartedly. As most of you know, I am a lifelong, diehard Ohio State fan. This sometimes presents a bit of a problem since I am currently attending another Big Ten school that is not Ohio State. Being a fan of a team everyone in your town hates makes you develop a thick skin very quickly or else you end up curled in a ball in the fetal position. However, I prefer the former because it allows me to talk some shit, especially since my beloved Buckeyes are number 1 in the polls right now and currently have the nations longest win streak. This win streak began the week after the Buckeyes lost to Penn State last year, which was a helluva time. Therefore, this year, the Bucks were ready for some revenge in the Horseshoe. People around here were, how can I put this, "going apeshit" for this game. As such, my cousin Ryan, who is a ticketbroker in Columbus was able to score me 2 last-minute tickets to the game at a reasonable (read: seriously expensive but worth it) price. So Friday afternoon my buddy Tom and I hopped in the car and trekked out to Ohio for a Scarlet & Gray fiesta. We stopped in Bridgeport, of course, to see the fam, and then headed out to Columbus Saturday morning for the game. Again, I have to give a shout out to my cousin Ryan, who hooked us up with great seats that were covered so we did not get rained on. Sweet!! The Bucks triumphed and all was right with the world. Here are some pics for you to enjoy:)

Hero of the hour: Me and my cousin Ryan

Sea of Scarlett in the Horseshoe

Both PSU and OSU fans know this one's a nail biter

The little Buckeye that could:)

Tom celebrates that the high cost of the ticket was actually worth it. Woohoo!!
Okay, that's enough for this evening. Check back soon for more stories, including... (1) Hey, Tom, is that a body in the road up ahead? AND (2) Hey, Em, what are you doing with that Canadian guy all time?

2 Spreading blog love one person at a time:
Looks like you had a blast! Ohio State is crazy good this year. I don't see them losing to anybody, they are just too tough.

Okay, you know I haaaaaate Ohio State, but N8-dogg is right, they are unbelieveably good this year. Troy Smith will have to poop on a judge to get out of winning the Heisman this year, seriously.
Glad it was fun. MISS YOU!
